About Christ School
Christ School is a nationally regarded all-boys boarding and day school for grades 8-12, located in the mountains of Western North Carolina just outside Asheville. We are seeking a high-energy, forward-thinking strength and conditioning professional ready to take ownership of a full performance program. This role is ideal for a current collegiate assistant or GA who is prepared to step into a head position and build a comprehensive system from the ground up.
Position Summary
The Head of Strength and Conditioning provides leadership, vision, and hands-on coaching for all aspects of athletic performance training at Christ School. The Head will design and implement year-round programs for all sports, manage the school's weight room and performance spaces, and collaborate closely with coaches, athletic trainers, and administrators to support the development and safety of every student-athlete.
This is a high-impact, relationship-driven role with significant autonomy and the opportunity to shape the long-term athletic development model for the entire school.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and execution of strength, speed, agility, and conditioning programs tailored to each offered sport and developmental levels.
Lead, supervise, and instruct athletes in proper Olympic lifting techniques, speed training, and agility work, ensuring safety and efficiency.
Deliver high-quality coaching and instruction to student-athletes in a structured, energetic, and technically sound training environment.
Partner with sport coaches to integrate performance training into practice planning and seasonal periodization.
Utilize technology to monitor athlete recovery, including sleep, nutrition, stress levels, and readiness to train.
Work collaboratively with the Athletic Training staff on injury prevention, rehabilitation programs, movement screening, and return-to-play strategies.
Oversee daily operations of the weight room, including scheduling, equipment upkeep, safety protocols, cleanliness, and facility standards.
Track athlete progress using appropriate performance metrics and communicate results to coaches and athletes.
Educate students on recovery, nutrition, sleep, and lifestyle habits that support performance and overall well-being for lifelong fitness
Engage in the broader life of a boarding school community as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Demonstrated ability to design and implement safe, effective training programs for adolescent athletes.
CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Strength and Conditioning, or a related field. (Master's preferred, could be in a related field)
Certification from recognized organizations, such as:
CSCCA - SCCC
NSCA-CSCS
NSCA National Strength and Conditioning Association +4
Minimum of four years of strength and conditioning experience at the college or high school level. Experience working with male adolescent athletes and/or within a boarding school environment
Familiarity with long-term athletic development (LTAD) principles and performance technology.
Ability to motivate athletes and build positive energy.
High standards for discipline and integrity.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with coaches, athletes, and families.
