HOW YOU WILL THRIVE:
Success in this role means applying your practical skills to support the upkeep of our campus, including building maintenance, seasonal groundskeeping, and facilities operations. From maintaining pool and arena systems to responding to work orders and supporting special events, your contribution will help ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for all while adhering to Occupational Health & Safety standards every step of the way HOW YOU WILL SUCCEED:
Perform arena maintenance work from mid-October to early March, and transition to groundskeeping duties from early March to mid-October
Work arena shifts on a rotating schedule: two day shifts (7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.), two afternoon shifts (4:00 p.m. – midnight), followed by two days off. Weekend work is required
Perform groundskeeping duties from March to October, Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Perform maintenance duties for assigned buildings, related facilities and grounds maintenance
Carry out scheduled maintenance of the arena and pool
Support seasonal tasks, including snow removal and de-icing in the winter, and watering, mowing, plant cultivation, gardening, and general turf care in the summer
Adhere to Occupational Health & Safety Act guidelines and promote a safe and healthy work environment
Ensure tools and equipment are maintained for safe and efficient use, and complete required logs for all assigned equipment.
Stay current with industry standards, literature, and technical updates relevant to all aspects of the role.
Assist with setup, support, and takedown for special events and respond to general maintenance work orders.
Participate in required training related to emergency and evacuation procedures (e.g., fire, gas leaks, water leaks).
Stay current on work orders and maintain understanding of operating requirements through frequent review of operating manuals and inspection sheets
Operate building and grounds systems, along with associated equipment, as needed
WHAT YOU BRING:
Proven experience in groundskeeping and gardening
Ability to work in all weather conditions (cold, heat, rain, etc.)
Ability to work at heights
Capability to perform some heavy lifting
Strong customer service skills
Valid Ontario G Driver’s License with clean driving record
Collaborative team player with ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize workload
Experience with small power tools is an asset
Fire safety, CPR / First Aid Training is an asset
Post-secondary education in related discipline is an asset
