About Us
The Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences, slated to open in the fall of 2026, will become the fourth residential high school in the state. This school will be the first of its kind in healthcare education. With an education in Demopolis, where the primary healthcare provider is the heartbeat of the community, students will discover the value of their service as community healthcare professionals and what it means to make a true difference to that community. Armed with training and certification, graduates will fill healthcare jobs across the State of Alabama and make immediate, positive contributions in an industry that has a dire need for trained professionals. In order to improve the health of rural Alabamians, building rural healthcare leaders will be the priority of this school.
Position Summary
The Director of Recruiting & Community Engagement at ASHS will lead the strategy, design, and execution of all recruitment and community-engagement efforts for our new residential high-school program. This role is foundational in shaping how we attract, enroll, retain, and engage students and families—and how we strengthen our relationships with external schools, community organizations, healthcare partners, and feeder pipelines. The ideal candidate is a dynamic communicator and strategic thinker who thrives in a mission-driven, start-up atmosphere, and is committed to our core values of Compassion, Innovation, Integrity, and Service.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $65,000 – $96,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications

Employment Type: Full-time, 12-month, exempt
Campus Role & Travel: Position includes regular travel (reimbursed), representing the school to external partners, schools, conferences, and community events.
Reports to: Dean of Students
Evaluation: Job performance will be evaluated by the immediate supervisor based on ASHS’s policy and procedures, including achievement of recruitment and enrollment goals, strength of partnerships, data-driven results, team collaboration, and alignment with mission and values.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in education, higher-ed administration, student affairs, communications/marketing, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in student recruitment, enrollment management, admissions, outreach, or community engagement.
Proven success in designing and implementing strategic outreach campaigns, building pipelines, and converting prospective students/families to enrolled matriculants.
Experience traveling for recruitment/engagement work, representing an institution externally, and building long-term partnerships.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to engage diverse audiences, including students, families, educators, community partners, and internal stakeholders.
Data-informed decision-maker: comfortable interpreting recruitment/enrollment metrics, pipeline data, conversion rates, and making strategic adjustments.
Ability to work collaboratively in a start-up style environment, adapt to evolving priorities, manage multiple projects and deadlines, and thrive in a dynamic setting.
Willingness to engage in occasional evening/weekend travel or events as needed.
Preferred Attributes
Experience launching or scaling a recruitment program for a residential/boarding school or emerging educational program.
Background or strong interest in healthcare sciences education
Familiarity with CRM systems, enrollment-management software, marketing automation tools, and digital outreach platforms.
Strength in building and activating community/partner networks and creating engaging student and family experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment Strategy & Execution
Develop and implement a comprehensive recruitment plan aligned with ASHS’s mission and goals, defining target markets, feeder schools, geographic regions, under-represented populations, and admission timelines.
Lead and manage the full funnel of recruitment: inquiries, campus visits/experiences, applications, decision communications, enrollment.
Travel regularly to partner schools, community organizations, educational fairs, conferences, and other venues to promote ASHS and build recruitment pipelines.
Create and oversee recruitment events on campus, regional outreach presentations, shadow-day programs, virtual sessions, and other experiences for prospective students and families.
Community & Partner Engagement
Establish, nurture, and expand relationships with K-12 schools (especially middle/high schools), guidance counselors, career coaches, community organizations, healthcare partners, nonprofits, and other stakeholders who can support student recruitment, outreach, and pathways into healthcare education.
Serve as the external ambassador for ASHS—representing the school in the field, cultivating partnerships, hosting site visits, and building a strong brand presence in the broader community.
Work with marketing/communications to develop materials (print, digital, social) and messaging that tell the ASHS story, highlight our unique residential healthcare-sciences focus, and engage prospective students, families, and partners.
Enrollment Management & Data
Monitor recruitment metrics, application/enrollment conversion rates, pipeline health, demographics, and other key performance indicators; use data to refine strategies and report to senior leadership.
Collaborate with admissions, financial aid, student life, and academic teams to ensure alignment of recruitment efforts with admissions processes, student support services, and the residential program’s needs.
Contribute to retention and yield initiatives by cultivating student and family engagement beginning in the pre-enrollment phase and continuing through orientation and matriculation.
Community Building & Student/Family Experience
Design outreach programs for prospective and newly admitted students and families that cultivate connection, belonging, and early engagement with the ASHS community.
Serve as a key conduit for family communications and relationship-building, collaborating with admissions and residential life staff to ensure seamless transition into campus life.
Work with student life and residential teams to incorporate community-engagement pathways (volunteerism, service learning, healthcare partnerships) into the recruiting narrative and onboarding processes.
