Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School is seeking a Head Varsity Boys Lacrosse Coach to lead and develop student-athletes in grades 9–12. The Head Coach is responsible for providing leadership and direction to all facets of the program while advancing the mission and values of Wyoming Seminary and the Athletics Department. This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics.
The Boys’ Lacrosse program is a member of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA), competing in District 2 of the Wyoming Valley Conference. All program activities must be conducted in accordance with the policies and expectations of Wyoming Seminary, the Athletics Department, the PIAA, and the National Federation of High School Sports (NFHS).
Essential Responsibilities
Plan and lead all aspects of the Boys’ Lacrosse program within PIAA District 2 and Wyoming Valley Conference standards, including practice planning, game preparation, and competitive strategy aligned with WVC opponents and scheduling demands.
Develop disciplined student-athletes’, technical boys’ lacrosse skills, tactical understanding, physical conditioning, team culture and sportsmanship, while emphasizing academic balance and personal growth.
Manage all boys’ lacrosse-specific operations, including player evaluation, seasonal progression, equipment, uniforms, and compliance with PIAA, NFHS, District 2, and WVC standards.
Collaborate with the Athletics Department to schedule exhibition and non-league contests.
Recommend, supervise, manage, and evaluate assistant coaches.
Partner with the Admission Office to evaluate mission-appropriate student-athletes.
Clearly communicate program expectations, team culture, and scheduling information to student-athletes and families.
Work collaboratively with the Director of Athletics, faculty, staff, and the broader school community.
Support and mentor student-athletes and families through the college recruitment process, as appropriate.
Engage in potential teaching, residential life, or other full-time campus responsibilities based on availability and qualifications.
Required Qualifications
Prior boys’ lacrosse coaching experience at the high school, prep, or collegiate level; head coaching experience and familiarity with PIAA/WVC competition preferred.
Strong ability to teach fundamental and advanced boys lacrosse skills, motivate student-athletes, and foster a positive, competitive, and inclusive team culture.
Knowledge of boys’ lacrosse rules, safety protocols, and competition.
Ability to mentor student-athletes and families through the college lacrosse recruiting process, including communication with collegiate programs.
Demonstrated commitment to student-athlete development, family engagement, and the values of an independent, college-preparatory school.
Motivate and inspire student-athletes in a competitive and educational environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and development-focused team culture.
Willingness to obtain and maintain all required PIAA and Pennsylvania clearances and certifications.
Demonstrated commitment to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive school community.
