The Director of Library and Digital Learning shapes how students and faculty engage with information, technology, and emerging tools in service of deep learning, ethical inquiry, and intellectual independence. This role bridges library science, instructional design, and digital pedagogy to advance teaching and learning across the curriculum.

What You’ll Do
Reporting to the Dean of Academics/Assistant Head of School, the Director of Library and Digital Learning is a key member of the Academics Office team.
Academic & Instructional Leadership
Lead the ethical integration of AI and emerging technologies across curriculum, with a focus on instructional design, assessment, and digital citizenship
Partner with faculty to design, teach, or co-teach learning experiences that integrate research, information literacy, and digital skills
Identify and align library and technology standards within the curriculum and recommend programmatic enhancements
Faculty Development & Partnerships
Design and facilitate professional development that builds faculty confidence and fluency with digital tools and pedagogical strategies
Work one-on-one with faculty and collaboratively with departments to support meaningful, transformative uses of technology in teaching and learning
Support new and returning faculty through targeted onboarding and training initiatives
Library Program & Space Leadership
Support the ongoing development of the Library as a vibrant, inclusive academic hub for students and faculty
Supervise and collaborate with the Assistant Librarian to assess and evolve the collection in response to curricular and community needs
Champion the Library as a center for inquiry, collaboration, and intellectual exploration
Digital Platforms & Systems
Oversee the academic use of key digital platforms, including Canvas and Blackbaud, in partnership with the Academics Office
Assess classroom technologies and digital systems, identifying needs for improvement, alignment, and faculty support
Manage the Library and Academic Technology budgets
What We’re Looking For
The successful candidate will:
Be a strategic and ethical thought leader in the use of AI, emerging technologies, and digital pedagogy
Demonstrate deep familiarity with an LMS (e.g., Canvas) and strong grounding in instructional design principles
Have experience with library management systems and digital research tools
Bring an academic lens to the use and management of SIS and LMS platforms
Have experience engaging students as collaborators and thought partners
Demonstrate success leading transformational, mission-aligned change in educational settings
Show a strong understanding of adolescent development and research-based teaching practices
Collaborate enthusiastically across disciplines and contribute fully to the life of a boarding school community
Teach one class as a member of an academic department, coach one season, and serve as an advisor
Engage actively in residential life and student programming beyond the classroom
Communicate with clarity, empathy, and optimism when working with students, families, and colleagues
Commit to ongoing professional growth and reflective practice in library and digital learning and emerging technologies

Salary Range
$95,000 - $115,000 commensurate with experience and educational background.
