Alzar School + Gap is an independent semester school that has been a leader in experiential education for high school students, with beautiful, inspiring permanent campuses in the mountains of Idaho and Patagonia, Chile. In addition to its semester school, Alzar has a growing gap program and auxiliary offerings for other demographics. Faculty and students are passionate, engaged, and united by a deep commitment to the school’s core foundations.
Alzar School + Gap is currently seeking an energetic, organized, and effective Director of Admissions and Enrollment (DAE) to lead its recruiting, admissions, and enrollment strategies.
The ideal candidate will bring a proven professional track record, including experience with similar organizations and a background working with or around teenagers. This is a dynamic and demanding leadership role, critical to the long-term success of the school.
The DAE must be a flexible, committed team member, ready to contribute to the ongoing development and impact of Alzar School + Gap.
Duties and Responsibilities The Director of Admissions and Enrollment (DAE) coordinates and implements a program to recruit and enroll 30–40 mission-aligned students per semester (60–80 per year), with a goal of growing those numbers. The DAE works closely with the Head of School, Executive Director, admissions team, faculty, and staff to implement the strategic plan for the school. As a senior administrator, the DAE oversees the daily operations of the Admissions Office and collaborates across departments including academics, auxiliary programs, communications, development, alumni relations, finance, HR, operations, IT, and student life. The DAE leads marketing efforts and oversees the need-based financial aid program and committee.

Strategic Direction and Development The Director will:
Understand and articulate the vision, mission, and goals of Alzar School + Gap
Travel domestically and internationally to promote programs, build relationships with sending schools and alumni families, and form new partnerships
Engage enthusiastically with colleagues, students, parents, and stakeholders
Attend meetings and work sessions at the Idaho campus as needed
Leadership of Recruiting, Admissions, and Enrollment Process The Director will:
Lead a well-established recruiting system based on the sending school model
Use and train others on the AI-first CRM and application platform launched in 2025
Introduce creative, strategic improvements to the admissions process
Maintain and adhere to a budget for materials, travel, and enrollment
Nurture relationships with current sending schools through phone, video, email, and visits
Research and connect with new schools nationally and globally
Arrange and manage travel logistics for admissions trips
Travel 6–8 weeks annually (potentially 10+ weeks in the first year)
Work remotely during admissions trips
Maintain a comprehensive database of schools, students, and families
Oversee financial systems related to aid applications, tuition, and billing
Manage the online application system and enrollment processes
Oversee social media, email marketing, and web content
Collect and organize enrollment forms for operational staff
Membership in the Faculty The DAE is expected to:
Maintain high professional standards and foster collaborative working relationships
Participate in staff meetings and small-group improvement projects
Live and work on or near campus for the first six months (with remote work and regular campus visits possible thereafter)
Membership in the Community The Director is a visible and active participant in the school community, serving as a role model for students. They are expected to:
Promote a culture of inclusivity and diversity within the school community
Build bridges between the school and external communities, businesses, and organizations
Direct and manage media to document daily life at Alzar
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiatives The DAE will:
Support applicants and families from marginalized backgrounds
Participate in DEI committee meetings twice per year
Stay current with DEI trends, especially as they relate to admissions
Residential Life Program The DAE participates in Alzar’s residential life program. Responsibilities include:
Leading evening and weekend coverage (~2 weekends per semester)
Supporting after-school activities (2–4 weeks per semester)
Required Qualifications & Experience
At minimum, a bachelor's degree.
Experience working in a nonprofit and/or educational setting.
Recent and extensive experience working in an admissions office.
Proficiency with various computer software and applications, including Element 451 (CRM and admissions application platform) or comparable.
The DAE is expected to participate in the residential life program, including evening and weekend coverage (typically ~2 weekends per semester on-duty).
